Make better decisions. Accessing information that’s directly related to your situation at hand helps to guide you about what action step to take next. Sometimes you won’t like the answers. Sometimes the answers are not the ones you want to hear.

The more you tap into your intuition the stronger it gets. The more you use intuition as your guide, the more trust you have in yourself and the more confident you feel making choices and taking steps towards your goal.

The ability to recognize the subtle signs that translate into a “knowing beyond words” when key people show up in your life at the right time and the right place. These signs – twinkle in the eye, sparkle in the face, a resonating with another person’s voice tones or even hearing a song playing in your head, for example, all complement your holistic decision to connect more deeply with another person. Just like the saying “When the student is ready the teacher appears,” the more receptive to the signals you are, the more meaning they will have for you.

In the act of creating the business or meaningful project that you want; make sure that the people or the businesses that you choose to partner with or hire to help you along the way also have the same qualities of the thing that you are creating, because when the finished product is completed, it actually embodies the qualities that held it as it was being created. For example, if during the creation process, your partners supported you in the way that you need to be supported; your creation will also have the innate quality of being able to support others in the way that they need to be supported. Think of it as feathering and fluffing up the nest. The creative environment and the people who are helping you are also part of the nest; they are holding you as you hold the creation. Consider who helps you and holds you as you create something.

Your intuition can guide you to choosing the right people to work with. Watch for your own personal signals and feel into them. For example, you may hear a little voice inside your head that says, “Yes, that’s who I want on my team!”

Or you may get an instinctive knowing that has the exact opposite reaction. And if you went ahead and partnered with that person and it didn’t work out, you’ll probably hear that voice or get that familiar thought, “I knew it but I didn’t listen.”

Partnering with or hiring the right person can also feel like the right puzzle piece fit for your creation, especially when the person you choose approaches their own work with the same feeling of joy and enthusiasm that you possess about your work. You want those same elements infused inside your creation (your business or meaningful project) because that is how you will deliver it to others.

I’d been curious about why I had been so fascinated and drawn to the TV show Mad Men and why I just had to watch all 4 seasons on DVD, even out of their natural sequence, over a short period of time. I enjoyed the fashion, the hairstyles, and especially how the roles in human relationships and connections played out back then compared to the many, many ways that the roles of men and women have evolved today.

Season three’s episode 13 nailed it. It was true then and it’s true now. The Millennials are onto something.

It’s 1963, and the ad agency, Sterling Cooper, just got sold out to a larger company, so the big players—the former owners, conspired to take with them their biggest accounts and start up their own agency again. To ensure success, they also needed to take with them their youngest team members, Pete in accounts, and Peggy, the trailblazing female copywriter, both of whom were in their twenties. So Donald Draper, the creative director, humbles himself and admits to each one separately that he needs their help.

Don told Pete that he recognizes his ability to foresee trends in the marketplace when the others didn’t.

“We need you to keep us looking forward, I do anyway,” he said.

Don admitted to Peggy that she was indispensible.

“You see how people view themselves and nobody understands that but you do, and that’s very valuable. I’m moving on and I don’t know if I can do it alone. Will you help me?”

“What if I say no? You’ll never speak to me again?” she said.

“No. Then I’ll spend the rest of my life trying to hire you.”

The takeaway here in my opinion is that we all have wisdom to offer, no matter what generation we come from. It all just comes in different layers and flavors.

Did you ever notice that the pain of resistance is so much worse than actually doing the activity that you resist doing?

It is the New Year and in our culture we make resolutions. Everyone knows that after a short while they simply wear out and don’t “stick.” So, this morning, rather than using a false sense of willpower to push through the resistance I was feeling, it occurred to me to implement a new approach to this recurring phenomenon of resistance that we humans tend to suffer from.

Here’s what I did: Rather than putting in that magnanimous effort to ignore it I simply chose to accept it was there – those familiar, uncomfortable nagging sensations in my body that signify the presence of resistance

I said, “Okay, Resistance, I feel you.” Then I quickly scanned my body and identified the locations where I felt it most, which was mainly in my jaw and head; with a slight sensation in my stomach. Then I used my “mind’s eye” or “inner vision” to have a look at it. Hmmm, what color was it? What was the texture? It looked like a thick, grey fog.

As an Intuition Coach, there were several options of what I could have done next to remove the resistance from my body. But this is what happened.

I received a flash of insight (through my intuition) telling me that getting into the habit of moving through resistance is like building a muscle. The more you do it the easier the heavy lifting becomes.

“Oh, that’s cool. I’m willing to play with the challenge,” I thought. I was inspired to look at it like a game and that gave me the incentive to do the activity that I had been resisting. And I actually enjoyed myself. It felt good afterwards!

Check it out for yourself and tell me your results: First accept and acknowledge your resistance, then observe it; tune into the personal “radar” of your intuition and be open to receive advice (guidance). Then take inspired action.

Think about your five senses; sight, sound, smell, taste and touch. When it comes to intuition, there are four categories that we can think about in a similar way that we think about our five senses. The most common ways that we receive and perceive intuitive information are by clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, and claircognizance. Chances are that one or two of these gifts are your natural expression.

Clairvoyance is visual. It literally means clear seeing. I always thought of myself as a visual person. When I close my eyes I can easily visualize any object, and this may be the same for you too. If you’re an artist then you most likely have gotten a clear image in your head of what you wanted your design to look like before you even executed it. When it comes to reading another person’s energy, I often see pictures that often represent a metaphor for the situation at hand.

You might even dream in color with vivid images. I keep a notebook and pen by my bed because occasionally I’ll have a significant dream, that even when I’m sleeping I’ll recognize on some level that there’s a message in the imagery and storyline that relates to my life, so I force myself to sit up and scribble down the dream in the dark so I can review it later. The last time this happened, the scenario in the dream was symbolic of an opportunity that was coming up, so when the event actually happened, I recognized it and I also understood not to take the outcome personally and that helped me keep a positive attitude. In retrospect, the dream reassured me about of my own wisdom. I have come appreciate the value of these messages. Maybe you have had similar experiences. Take a moment to remember one. Write about it.

Opening up into intuition is the willingness to tune into the subtleties of your senses. Are you familiar with the subtle signs in your body that tell you that you are making the right choice? You need to know what the signals are and what they are trying to tell you.

Think of a time when you’ve been on the brink of making a decision – whether it was signing up for a program or a service or making a big purchase in general, and something internal held you back from doing it. You knew that you needed what was being offered, the solution appealed to you, you could afford it or were at least willing to stretch for it, but something didn’t feel exactly right. You recognized a subtle feeling that something is a little off.

Or maybe you are the type of person who ignores subtle warnings and pushes through it anyway. You might choose the solution simply because it is there. Be aware if you are making the choice out of fear. You might think that the solution will save you in the moment, but in the end it may not serve you at all.

Let’s assume you know when something feels right in your body. Each person is different but there are some commonalities you may experience that signal to you what you chose is right. Here are some typical signals to notice:

There’s a feeling in your chest like your heart has opened and expanded.

You feel a release in your chest where it felt constricted before.

The internal clutching may loosen.

You feel calmer.

You burst into a wide smile.

You feel hopeful.

You hear an internal voice inside you that says, “Yes!”

You visually imagine a door opening up into endless possibilities

So the next time you’re about to make an important decision, take a moment to “check in” with yourself for any signals that hold special meaning for you.
